Machu Picchu, Peru

Machu Picchu is known for its Inca civilization’s architectural prowess in the Andes Mountains. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site, this ancient city captivates visitors with its breathtaking ruins. It is arguably the most magnificent on the planet.

Despite the potential for crowds during the high season, the awe-inspiring beauty of Machu Picchu makes the visit unquestionably worthwhile. The area is famous for its historical and visual appeal.

It offers many adventure activities. Numerous tour operators in the vicinity provide thrilling experiences such as hiking, mountain biking, white-water rafting, and zip-lining, catering to the desires of adventure seekers.

2.    Dolomites, Italy

Dolomites, Italy

Situated in northeastern Italy, the Dolomites are a majestic segment of the Italian Alps – renowned for being a premier destination for climbers worldwide. These mountains have exceptional natural beauty and offer various outdoor activities, making them a magnet for ski enthusiasts and trekkers.

The region is particularly popular around Rocca Pietore, near the Marmolada glacier and the picturesque valleys of Badia, Gardena, and Fassa. The Southern Lights result from solar winds interacting with the Earth’s magnetosphere, with their frequency peaking during periods of increased solar activity. The unpredictable nature of these lights, combined with Antarctica’s remote and stark landscape, makes witnessing the Aurora Australis a truly unique and unforgettable experience.

5.    Petra, Jordan

The interplay of light and shadow creates an ever-changing spectacle that seems almost otherworldly. Visiting Antelope Canyon is a visual feast, offering a glimpse into the dynamic forces of nature that sculpt and shape the Earth’s landscape.

Must-do Fantastic trip. We were picked up and dropped off at our hotel, which had arranged the trip for us, cost was 15 Rials per person for a half-day cruise on a traditional dhow. We had to pass through a number of other shows to get to our one but this was easy, even for a scaredy-cat like me. Show was very clean (including the western-style toilet) with thick carpets and lots of cushions. The crew, Sohail and Raju (apologies if spelled incorrectly), were friendly and so helpful. Lots of soft drinks and fruit provided. The cruise itself was so beautiful and we saw lots of dolphins (Sohail speaks fluent dolphin) plus beautiful fish near Telegraph Island. No one wanted to swim (only 6 of us on board) but am sure we could have done. All in all, a thoroughly good trip.

HIGHLY recommended - 10/10 experience!!! We booked a day and overnight dhow cruise for a mixed bunch of 10. I cannot recommend this company enough, they were very attentive and detailed with WhatsApp communication prior to our trip, arranging for transport to collect us from the Dubai border (an AED 800 additional charge) - and take us through to Oman, and to the dhow. The dhow itself was wonderful, clean, comfortable and spacious. We were greeted with a fresh fruit platter and an ice box full of water and soft drinks. Lunch was delicious, and plenty for all ten people - we saw many dolphins and enjoyed swimming in the various stop off points in crystal clear waters. We had two members of staff with us the entire 24- hour trip, the captain and his helper were amazing, so friendly and very attentive to our needs. At night the seas were full of illuminous plankton - the most incredible experience to see!! We loved sleeping on the top-deck and waking up to the most beautiful pink sky was magical. Overall, this trip is HIGHLY recommended, and I would like to thank Dhow Khasab Tours for their 10/10 service.
